On Field Reporting | Varsity Football, McCallum HS v Liberty Hill HS on 10/25/24




The Knights lost 78-57 to the Panthers. The Panthers started with a touchdown and 2-point conversion. After a McCallum turnover on downs Liberty Hill scored two touchdowns. Then Sanchez scored a touchdown for the last score of the game.


The third quarter ended with the Knights down 56-50 to the Panthers. The quarter started with a Liberty Hill touchdown, then the Knights had a 70-yard touchdown by Sanchez but didn’t get the 2-point conversion. After another Panthers touchdown, Butler had a touchdown reception to end the quarter.


The first half ended with the Knights trailing the Panthers 42-38. The quarter started with a 43-yard field goal by senior kicker Gus Ehlers. After a touchdown by Liberty Hill, McCallum was unable to convert but forced a Panthers fumble recovered by junior defensive lineman Nash Wegner. Then senior wide receiver Jaiden Booe had a touchdown but the Knights’ 2-point conversion was no good. Liberty Hill had another two touchdowns and then Dunham had a 58-yard touchdown. To end the quarter, Sanchez had a 36-yard reception and then a touchdown rush with a successful two-point conversion.


FIRST QUARTER FIREWORKS: The Knights end the first quarter down 21-14 to the Liberty Hill Panthers. McCallum started with a long reception and run by junior tight end Alex Hopper to get into the redzone. Senior running back Mitchell Butler then rushed for a Knights touchdown. After a touchdown by the Panthers, senior quarterback Luke Dunham threw a 52-yard pass to senior wide receiver Mark Sanchez and then Dunham had a 33-yard touchdown run. Liberty Hill then scored on their next two drives to get their first lead of the night to end the quarter.

On Field Reporting | Varsity Football, McCallum HS v Pfluegerville HS on 10/10/24


The Knights lost 52-14 to the Panthers. The second half started with touchdowns by Pflugerville on its first three possessions of the second half. Senior wide receiver Mark Sanchez then scored a touchdown for the Knights’ first points of the game. On the Knights’ next possession, senior running back Mitchell Butler scored a touchdown. The Panthers closed the scoring with their final touchdown of the night.


The first half ended with the Knights down 28-0 to the Panthers. To start the second quarter, Pflugerville scored on its first three possessions while the Knights remained scoreless.


The Knights trail 7-0 at the end of the first quarter to the Pflugerville Panthers. The Panthers won the toss and scored on their first possession. After a sack by sophomore defensive lineman Tyson Thompson, soon after there was a fumble by Pflugerville recovered by sophomore defensive lineman Hugo Smith. At the end of the quarter the Knights fumbled, recovered by the Panthers.

On Field Reporting | McCallum HS Varsity Football vs. Bastrop H.S. 9/28/24


McCallum lost 39-32 to the Bears. In the third quarter, senior wide receiver Mark Sanchez had a 50-yard touchdown. Then Bastrop had a touchdown and field goal. In the fourth quarter, the Knights had a long run by Butler and a touchdown by Sanchez to tie the game. The Bears had a touchdown and then there was a delay of game for the stadium lights going out. After the lights came back on, senior wide receiver Camden Willis scored a touchdown for the Knights. Then Butler converted a 2-point conversion to take the lead. After, Bastrop had a touchdown and 2-point conversion and intercepted the Knights to end the game.



The Knights ended the first half down 14-10 against the Bastrop Bears. In the first half, the Knights received the ball to start the quarter but were unable to score in their possession. The Bears scored a touchdown on their first drive and the rest of the quarter was scoreless back and forth between the two teams.  In the second quarter, Bastrop fumbled and the ball was recovered by McCallum but they were unable to score. The Bears scored on their next possession. On the Knights next drive, senior running back Mitchell Butler had a 58-yard touchdown run. McCallum recovered another Bastrop fumble and senior kicker Gus Ehlers scored a field goal to end the half.

On Field Reporting | McCallum HS vs Elgin Wildcats HS on 9/20/24


The Knights lost 50-26 to the Wildcats. The half started with a touchdown by Elgin, then a 17-yard touchdown reception by senior wide receiver Mark Sanchez but with a failed 2-point conversion. After another touchdown by the Wildcats, Butler had another touchdown but couldn’t make the 2-point conversion to end the game.

The second quarter ended with McCallum down 29-6 to the Wildcats. To start the quarter, senior running back Mitchell Butler rushed for a 26 yard touchdown, but the Knights failed to score the 2-point conversion. During the rest of the quarter, Elgin scored four more touchdowns, but had a blocked extra point on one of their possessions, and picked off the Knights twice.

The Knights end the first quarter trailing 2-0 to the Elgin Wildcats. The Knights received to start the quarter but had a pass intercepted by the Wildcats. Elgin then forced McCallum to a safety. On the Wildcats’ next possession the Knights forced them to fumble and the ball was recovered by sophomore defensive back Ethan Roberts. McCallum was picked off on their next possession but held the Wildcats to 4th and 8, forcing them to punt.
